Mythical Characters of Fantasy Movies
Fantasy movies are one of my favourite film genres, because they bring amazing mythical characters to life that doesn’t exist here in the real world. Here I would like to share few of my favourite mythical characters ever.
What
is Myth?
A myth is a traditional story, which may
describe the origins of the world and/or of a people. A myth is an attempt to
explain mysteries, supernatural events, and cultural traditions. Sometimes
sacred in nature, a myth can involve gods or other creatures.
These are the few characters that i favour the most.
a. Albus Dumbledore from the Harry
Potter movies - this loveable wise wizard represent a great magical mentor himself. Dumbledore is the best wizard in the world of
fantasy movies.
b. Tinkerbell from 'Hook' - it's
nice to get to hear Tinkerbell talk and express herself. (Plus
everyone knows
that fairies are the best mythical characters.)
c. Aslan from the Chronicles of
Narnia - the Great Lion, is the creator and one true king of the
world of
Narnia, and generally a figure of all that is good.
d. Legolas from The Lord of The
Rings - is an Elf of the Woodland Realm and one of nine
members of the
Fellowship of the Ring.
e. Captain Jack Sparrow from The
Pirates of the Caribbean - most notable characteristic is his swaggering
walk, which has often been described as slightly drunken. His speech is slurred
and he seems to be in a constant state of disorientation and confusion and his
extravagant persona which makes the character alive.
All the characters I have mention above are
very familiar with the students and it gives me opportunity to adopt and adapt
these stories and characters as my teaching material in the classroom. I bet my
students will enjoy this teaching and learning session.
